On Big Pharma, "nonprofit" foundations
and NPR's reporting of Mental Health issues.
On the morning of February 29th, 2012, I phoned
in a comment to the popular morning show on Cleveland's National
Public Radio affiliate WCPN 90.3FM because they were discussing a
recent school shooting nearby that left three teenagers dead and I
had to challenge them on NPR's ongoing failure to report on the
role P$ychiatric drugs may be playing in the wave of senseless rampage
killings that are sweeping our nation.
Here's a recording of my brief discussion with program host
Mike McIntyre:
Listen
No Mike, it's NOT "absurd" to suspect that sponsorship by foundations
connected to the pharmaceutical industry may influence NPR's reporting.
In fact, it would be absurd to think otherwise! Like Deep Throat said
to Bob Woodward in All the President's Men, "Just follow
the money."
I could go on for HOURS about that but to make my case I'll just present
this one 2009 entry from an award-winning Mental health blog. Note what
he says about the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation:
