Two polymer clay hummingbirds
I made these hummingbirds on commission for Heidi in
Texas.
Both are sculpted in polymer clay on armatures of wire and
aluminum
sheet metal. The one on top I painted in oils and tried to ship
it
held mid-air inside the crate because the paint wasn't dry. It
was
ruined in transit and I told Heidi I'd make her another one and
ship
it right. That one, below, is painted in acrylics, which take
five
minutes to dry, so there was no problem with packing it in bubble
wrap.
I'm told it arrived intact. A lesson hard learned!
